I know, I know, the App store is only a week old but this will be the app to beat for me.I use to have this running joke that said that I'll know it's time to call it quits when the "kids" start showing up at gigs rocking cellphones live instead of laptops. Today, I'm afraid that I'm gonna have to officially recant that statement. I've been completely enthralled with BeatMaker, a new and very neato MPC-style sequencer for the iphone/touch. I can not wait to see what the future holds for this platform. My first computer didn't do anything like this out of the box. The only drawback is that I've been spending less time with my laptop but I'm sure that will change when midi export is implemented.

ps. The touch surface is a lot easier to use than I make it look. It was a bit hard to hit the mark with a camera standing between it and myself. However, once you factor in perspiration (sorry, but it's true), I do think it would be quite the challenge to perform for an extended period of time on stage.
